Path array with 2 points connected

Hi everyone, I've been busting my brains out for hours but this is the best I could come up with. My goal is to create a block of barriers (connected together on 2 points like a train) that could follow a line/arc/spline. Only problem with what I did is the number of unit is fixed or limited (please see attached); and you need to rotate each individual unit. I tried doing an array but it gets funny when the curve changes. Is there a way to make this better or the only solution is to place each individual block on its proper place?

Insertion point, use center.

Thanks for the reply. Can you walk me through it? sorry if i'm missing something. Can't seem to line up the points, i tried doing a path array with the block inserted using center.
