Pasteclip invalid, Insert invalid

Hi. I need to take some linework from one file and add it into another. I know of two ways to do this - paste, and insert block. Either way I do it, I get an error saying 'Invalid." Either Pasteclip Invalid or DDInsert Invalid. I have tried purging, auditing, and saving as various versions and nothing has worked.

I should say that the file I am trying to import linework from was I believe last saved as a .dwg in CorelDraw before it was sent to me. So I have problems with it freezing up as I usually do with Draw .dwgs, but I got around this (I thought) by saving it as a R12 .dxf. That seemed to fix the freezing problem but I can't get the linework into the file I need to bring it into. I've also tried starting a new file and bringing linework from the two files into it, with the same result for both of them!

Any idea what I can do beyond purging, auditing, and wblock? Thanks.

INSERT what exactly? that command does not work with "linework" as you call it.
What is it you are trying to INSERT? Is that block actually populated with content?
Can your INSERT it into the other file?
Are you sure the problem is the source and not the destination file?

Post the two DWG files here if you are unsure.

Yes, I was trying to insert a file as a block. Yes, it had content. I tried it both ways, pasting and inserting from one file to another and then the other way around.

So, I spent all day trying to get it to work on Friday. I left it alone over the weekend, and decided to give it one more shot this morning, and it pasted right away. So, I'm not sure what the issue was but it appears to be fixed now.

Yes, I also faced same problem with insert and pasteclip one drawing to another

this happens with the perticular drawing which may have some setting for that to keep data safe

there one more way you can use it by XREF

open infected dwg where from you want to take block

1st saveas that drawing

2nd keep only part which you have to insert to another drawing

3rd then go to the drawing where you want to get pasted

go for XREF and insert prepared drawing then right click on this dwg and bind it

it will get inserted .....
