Paste-as-block, Please resurrect thee!

I understand that your developers abandoned Paste-as-Block from the edit pull-down menu a few generations ago.

I used to be very dependant on the "paste as block" command. In 2-dimensional drafting, it uniquely allows for the transformation of an object by scaling in only the x or y dimensions, so as to affect faithful and naturalistic oblique views of complex curves.

Is there are replacement for this function by another means, or can you please bring it back?

Hi mgunnisoncollins,

I haven't test this on the Mac version, but this feature is available on Acad 2016 for Windows.
https://screencast.autodesk.com/main/details/51017d25-9c09-4c0a-9c25-4a9a12f92ef5

Can you confirm the steps are ok ?

Cheers, Nicolas

This option is not given in acad 2015, as far as I can tell.

Nor does Command-Shift-V enable any action.

Does it also exist in your pulldown menu?

just type "pas" at the command line and the pasteblock choice will appear.

Not true in my version of the program. When I type "pas" the only option that comes up is "pasteclip."

Are you also running 2015 for Mac?

No, 2016 on Windows. Try pasteblock.

Boo.  😞

"Unknown Command."

Well, I'm glad at least that they heard the cries from the rafters and opted to put "Paste as Block" back into the newer version.  It's a remarkably powerful drafting tool as I have described.

Of course which version one purchases is always dictated by Murphy's Law.  Alas,...

Thanks for your input, Gary.  Appreciate it.

Paste as block does work in 2015 Windows. I believe in Mac paste as block is not an option. You could wblock out the objects and then insert them into the drawing that way.

Thanks Dan.

I went to such lengths before in an attempt to achieve the same effect. But it wasn't satisfactory, I think because MAC 2015 didn't allow me to hold a deviant x-scale when the block pasted in. Or else it was rather when I exploded it, the x-scale proportion didn't hold. Either way, it didn't work as I needed it to.

Yeah, tough call on this one. Send an email to feedbackacadmac at autodesk.com and there is a guy who reads those questions that may be able to give more info/ options.
