HI

im working with parametric constraint, having some difficulties to reach my goals, was hoping I can get help with

in the image simple trapezoid profile armed with parametric constraint,

first thing is that i need the magenta rectangle above the trapezoid remain in its initial length, right now when changing parameters d4,d5 and d1 cause it to stretch.  i need d4 and d5 adjust the rectangle position along to trapezoid top rather than stretching it.

how can i do that?

You never can "fix" the length of the rectangle (e.g. adding a parameter d6 as shown in the attached file) and additionally free determine the values of d4 AND d5 AND d1 AND ang1. So the geometry would be over-constrained. At least one of these parameters must be deleted or defined as reference parameter. Which one of the parameters (d1 or d4 or d5 or ang1) is your choice, we don't know what you finally want to achieve.
