Paperspace lineweights outside of viewport

If I draw a line directly on the layout/paperspace (no viewports added, yet) the lineweight will only show if I change the "VP Lineweight" in the layer properties. But my understanding is this is meant to change lineweights for anything inside a view port. I'm working on a layout where I haven't inserted a viewport, so shouldn't the lineweight be based on the regular lineweight?

The layout itself is also treated like a vport

But it should work as expected with the normal layer lineweight setting aswell

- IF object lineweight is set BYLAYER (it is, in your sample)

- IF there is NO VP LINEWEIGHT OVERRIDE for this layer!

Remove layer overrides and test it again!

Do you know how to do this?

@ryan_cousins is this a problem in ALL of your viewports in ALL of your DWG files, or just this one viewport or just this one DWG file?

What is SHADEMODE set to inside your viewport?

Thank you for your help, everyone. It turns out I had to remove the layer over ride. Good to know!
