Paper Space Glitch

Paper Space Glitch

I have a file where one of my paper space tabs is reflecting what appears to be a viewport on top of my actual paper area. I can see all of my model space drawing in this area. The catch is that there isn't actually a viewport at all. It's more of just a view of my model space, without actually being on any layer. There's nothing I can select, and if I zoom the page to show all work, it zooms in only to show my paper area, and acts like this model space view isn't on the page. If I freeze a layer for just this page, nothing happens. If I freeze a layer for all pages, that change is reflected on this model space view.

So, on a specific paper space tab, I essentially have a view of model space, not a viewport of model space.

It's the weirdest thing.

Perhaps try vpmin command

https://autocadtips1.com/2011/06/29/working-in-a-viewport/

Better yet share the problem dwg

So, again, it's something weird. There's not actually a viewport at all. Imagine you're seeing everything in model space as if there was a viewport, but there physically is no viewport. Again, you're viewing model space from paper space, but there's no actual viewport. You can't select anything, you can't click anything, it's just viewing model space without an actual viewport.

I would love to share the problem, but I can't share work-related documents.

You can always erase all objects and purge before sharing this strange phenomenon in this dwg

Also have you tried running audit command

I have run the audit, 0 errors found. I apologize, but I'm not able to share any DWG files, even if I were to purge all company related items. This strange glitch isn't worth the risk of sharing company documents, resulting in not a fun time for me.

Try to follow the steps

Save your file and for a safe test, SaveAs the file to test.dwg.

Go to this layout,

Q: Statusbar shows [Paper] or [Model]?

To make sure we are in Paperspace, type in: PSPACE<enter>

Type in:

-LAYER<enter>

TH<enter>*<enter>

ON<enter>*<enter>

UNL<enter>*<enter>

<enter>

VPLAYER<enter>TH<enter>*<enter><enter><enter>

ZOOM<enter>E<enter>

If you can not see an additional viewport:

?

ERASE<enter>ALL<enter>R<enter>

and select all by window selection

and confirm

Now,

[CTRL]+[A]

LIST<enter>

Is AutoCAD asking for Object selection or not? If not:

[F2]

Share the last lines from Command: LIST

to the end.

If the problem is one single LAYOUT, delete the layout, then create a new one instead https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-d...

If the problem is all layouts in one single DWG file, then fix that one file

Let us know how to all goes.

This appeared to fix the trick. All of a sudden, it is a viewport now. I didn't catch exactly which line solved the problem, my apologies, but now I do actually have a viewport. Thanks!

The problem was with a single layout (sorry, I just refer to them as tabs still). And while I could simply create a new layout, this endeavour was simply to see what was wrong with the existing one.
