Anybody else have page setup manager stop working in civil 3d 2020?  I have to close out of autocad and get back in to make it work.

"stop working"? as in it comes up but you can't do anything? Or something else?
Or is it just off-screen?

As in whether I type PAGESETUP or right-click on the tab and select Page Setup Manager - nothing happens.

"nothing happens."

if you can not use other commands then, until you press [ESC] - the pagesetup dialog is on! but outside your visible part of your Desktop/Screen.

Easiest way to "find" your dialog is: Start the pagesetup dialog by your way ot by type in _pagesetup

then press [Win]+[Shift]+[<-] or [->] (Arrow key Left or Right)

Does the program hang like something is happening elsewhere?
Is C3D2020 fully updated?

Did you see if the dedicated C3D forum is reporting such an issue?

Hi,

>> I have to close out of autocad and get back in to make it work.

Am I correct that when you start command _PAGESETUP AutoCAD stops responding .. until you press <ESC> ... does this bring AutoCAD/Civil 3D back to live?

If yes (which I assume) your pagesetup window is outside the display area of your current monitors.

Try this:

  • start the command
  • press <ALT><SPACE> ... this brings a popup menu
  • use keyboard cursor down to "Move" in this popup
  • use <ENTER> to start move
  • use keyboard cursor <Left> or <Right> to move the missing dialog
  • when you see the dialog you can continue with the mouse ... show the new location and left click to set it.

No you are not correct.  When I say nothing happens, NOTHING HAPPENS.  It's like I never did the command.  I can keep working, just like normal.  Whether I right-click the tab and select Page Setup Manager, type in the command Pagesetup, or go through the File -> Page Setup Manager, nothing.  Like I've said before, it's intermittent.  Sometimes it will start working again, and sometimes I have to exit AutoCAD.  As other people have suggested, the dialogue box is not "hidden".  If it were, I would not be able to keep working.

Hi,

Well, referring what we know until now:

Last message:

>> It's like I never did the command. I can keep working, just like normal

And that's what you wrote in your initial post:
>> I have to close out of autocad

So that you can work after you started the command is a new information :cara_guiñando_un_ojo:

What happens if you start command _.PAGESETUP (with underline and point?)

Can you please start command _ABOUT and show us a screenshot from this dialog so we know exactly which type/version/update of AutoCAD you have.

Other questions:

  • have you migreated settings from previous version of AutoCAD?
  • have you used/accessed PC3 files from previous versions of AutOCAD?

I tried the command but nothing happened.  I don't know how to paste a screen shot to the forum.

My product version is 13.2.1758.0 Civil 3D 2020.2 Update

Hi,

for Civil 3D you have 4 lines of version information.

The module Civil 3D 2020.2 is not up-to-date, because 2020.3 exists already.

How about the AutoCAD and Map3D version information?

And what are the answers to my 2 other questions?

I've looked for updates - I couldn't find that one.:cara_pensativa:

I did not migrate any settings.  We totally went with fresh installs.  I don't know about the PC3 files.  When we plot we just choose a plotter from the list of plotters or printers on the server.  The other lines are:

Q.104.0.0 AutoCAD 2020.1.2

23.0.30.11 Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D 2020.0.1 Update

8.2.47.0 AutoCAD Architecture 2020

I don't know what the Architecture one is - we're engineers so don't use it.  I don't really use Map all that much either.

Hi,

>> I've looked for updates - I couldn't find that one

It was introduced yesterday, you can get it via Autodesk Desktop App or login to Autodesk subscription center (https://manage.autodesk.com) ==> Civil 3D ==> Updates ==>

20200229_202048_0001.png

However, I guess the Civil 3D update 2020.2 or 2020.3 should not have anything to do with your issue.

>> Q.104.0.0 AutoCAD 2020.1.2

>> 23.0.30.11 Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D 2020.0.1 Update

Great, all well with these versions.

>> I don't know what the Architecture one is

There exist parts of the Architecture library in Civil 3D, that's why you see the version information, but it's part of Civil.

>> When we plot we just choose a plotter from the list of

>> plotters or printers on the server

And you never have created own settings or paperformats?

If you have not done any customization, you could reset your AutoCAD/Civil3D profile as described >>>here<<<.

Do other employees in your office have Civil 3D too ... and the same issue?

I'm not sure what creating our own paper formats has to do with not being able to even get to the page setup manager.  I don't know the answer to that - we use standard sizes.  I guess they got created, but that was versions ago... I don't know if anyone else is having the issue - they haven't said anything.  But I'm in a different office that is networked in - don't ask me how I don't know how it all works:cara_neutral: But I also run slower than the computers in the main office - we're still trying to figure out why there.  This is just another issue I was hoping to resolve.

Hi,

My idea behind this is that defect PC3-files (or PMP-files) could crash the page setup process and so kill the dialog/stop the command).

>> But I also run slower than the computers in the main office

A second reason to try the reset AutoCAD profile workflow mentioned in my previous post.
