Page Setup automatically changes to None. Why? How to solve?

Some of computers have problem when trying to select the page setup from the pull down list. We set up many page setup options for printing on paper and PDF in the different sizes.

Only some (which means not all) computers does not allow to retain the page setup setting chosen and forces to "None". Please anyone help me find out why causing this and how to solve this issue.

Thank you in advance.

@Anonymous, check to make sure everyone has the same plot configuration within options:

This is what the directory would look like that @Darin.Green has in the image. See those .pc3 files? You may need to use Add-A-Plotter Wizard if you continue to have issues.

Hi @Anonymous,

I usually see this problem when a user's PC3 file is broken or missing. I also see this when the plotter in the Page Setup does not exist or has a different driver.

Once you explore these possibilities, please report back and let me know how you are sharing the page setups for all your users.  Also, please tell me how you maintain your PC3 files across all your user desktops.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Thank you for those who answered to me.

I checked and have made sure everyone has the same plot configuration within options, first.

All .pc3 files are located in the network drive. I will try to use Add-A-Plotter Wizard and let you know if this solves the problem.

Please screenshot the 'none', I just want to ensure we're thinking of the same location.

@Anonymous, not sure if you checked, but @john.vellek makes a great point about the print drivers being different or out dated. Please make sure everyone is using the same print drivers especially where the pc3 files are being used.

I do not know how to check the print drivers being different or not.

I found computers after Windows 10 upgrade have this trouble.

Before upgrading to Windows 10, it was OK. So, I am feeling that upgrading caused print drivers change.

Add-A-Plotter Wizard did not help. If I create the Page Setup on Windows 7, Windows 10 computers show the Page Setup selection automatically changes to None.  If I create the Page Setup on Windows 10, and then I try to select the Page Setup on Windows 7 computers, the Page Setup selection automatically changes to None.

Best,

Hi,

>> Before upgrading to Windows 10, it was OK.

Yep, this would be one of my guesses (the other would have been if you updated AutoCAD and used the PC3 from the previous versions).

First, as you do have PC3-files on a network server ... don't mix PC3 files from Windows 10 workstations with the ones from Windows 8.1 or older. The driver settings in the PC3 are different (because Windows 10 has some differences in printer drivers API).

Second: updating an operating system and leaving the old drivers to the hardware is always risky, especially as there are a lot off drivers out marked as Win10-compatible, but not really working. So uninstall the printer and plotter drivers, search the ones that are explicitly marked as "for Windows 10" (and tested from other users (search in forums) and install them. After that use the Add-a-Plotter-Wizard to create new PC3-files from scratch.

Good luck, - alfred -

If the source of the problem cannot be located or is too time consuming, reinstall autocad. If you're still having the problem make sure your autocad, operating system, and drivers are all up-to-date.

It might be a path issue. Do a search for PC3 files on your computer and or server, and make sure they are listed under OPTIONS > FILES.

You could also read up on "TRUSTEDPATH" and "SECURELOAD" variables, especially if your printers are accessed over a network.

I recently had this problem, but this thread pointed me in the right direction. The solution for me was to open the file using the original version used to create the files. I had installed a more recent version of AutoCAD/Civil 3D, which caused the Page Setup to revert to None. By opening in the original version the Page Setups were restored to their saved states.
