overlapping texts in a pdf printed sheet.

Anonymous
Not applicable

I'm using autocad 2016. When I plot  a drawing sheet into pdf using the dwg to pdf.pc3, what I see are overlapping texts in the title block and the headings of each section in the sheet. Please see attached.

I don't have this problem in the earlier version of the autocad.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me solve this problem.

Thanks,

I might check a couple things;

Is there a missing font?

Is the font annotative?

Could you simply delete one of the instances?

No missing fonts. You can not delete a printed text in the overlap. Did you see the sheet that I attached?

Hi zoea2

Welcome to the Forums!

Your PDF issue is nasty!  Let's see if we can work through it. First, is it possible to attach a copy of the drawing to this thread? I would like to see if I can duplicate the issue on my workstation.

Next, if you could tell me which specific DWG to PDF.PC3 you are using that would be helpful. If you are using the one just named Dwg to PDF, try using one of the newer ones such as AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation).pc3 to see if the problem continues. Please post your results in this thread.

I look forward to working with you to resolve your problem.

Yes i saw the attached sheet. my question about deleting it was not about deleting it from pdf but from CAD source file.

If you could post the source file as @john.vellek mentioned it might help.

Here is the .dwg source file of the pdf sheet I previously posted. Please let me know. I used the DWG to PDF.pc3 to print to pdf.

Hi zoea2,

I took a look at your drawing and ran an AUDIT (114 errors) and also a PUURGE (removed 21 objects).

I then plotted to a PDF using the AUTOCAD PDF (General Documentation) PC3 file. I have attached my results. Please let me know if this helps.

I tried using a different plot style using Autocad Pdf (general) as you suggested and printed it. It gave me the same result (overlappint texts).

I believe the issue is being caused by errors in the drawing. As I explained in my previous post, an Audit and Purge seemed to fix the problem for me.

I was unable to duplicate the problem. Smiley Sad Like @john.vellek though i found a lot of junk in the file. Its also a very large file for actualy haveing very little in it. i suspect its the leftovers from DGN "Orphaned DGN linestyle data deleted"

There were several fonts that i didnt have so this may be why i was unable to duplicate the problem.

Have you tried using publish as opposed to print?

Also you can choose to send the fonts to PDF have you tried toggeling this option? (or even just send it through as geometry)

I repeated the steps you gave me (audit and purge) on the same file I sent you and printed it. The same overlapping texts appear. When I print the pdf file in bond paper size I don't see any overlapping texts. It printed correctly in bond paper size.

Hi zoea2,

I am curious as to what you mean by Bond Size. Is this a PC3 file? It sounds like you might be using a custom PC3 file. Please try one of the stock ones such as I mentioned in my prior post. If you run Audit, Purge, swap out fonts that are not present in your Text Styles and then still have the problem when plotting to one of the Autodesk PDF  PC3 files then we can keep working on the problem.  PC3 files sometimes do strange things if they are migrated or somehow damaged. It is usually easiest to create a new PC3 file rather than to try and repair the old one.

Please post your results here.

I found a solution! I used pdf995 to print pdf file from ACAD2016. I printed the file I sent you using pdf995 and the print did not have overlapping text. I print another drawing file using the same pdf995, it also printed correctly. No more overlapping text.

Thanks for all your help!

HI @Anonymous,

Can you share your DWG(s) and the plot style as well as any non-standard fonts that you are using? I would like to see if I can duplicate this behavior. I do not however see any overlapping text in the sample attachment  you included in your post.

Which version of AutoCAD are you using?

Hello! I have attached the drawing here. Strange you said you did not see
overlapping text. When I open it on my computer it shows overlapping text.
See my screenshot. Perhaps its my computer?

HI @Anonymous,

I am afraid there is no attachment. Can you try again using a different browser perhaps?

What font are you using that causes this behavior? Or, is it happening with all fonts?  Please also tell me which PDF viewer you are using? I assume that if you print to a printer you don't see this happen and that you are only seeing it in your PDF. What does a print from your PDF look like? Does it too show the overlapping?
