Hi and welcome to AutoDesk Forum,

OOPS only work in these cases :

- restoring all objects erased by ERASE command.

- after creating Blocks.

- restoring all objects on a layer that has been removed by purge command.

SO as you see with OVERKILL command OOPS doesn't work.

Hi imadhabash
Thanks for your reply
I know oops doesn't work now, my concern is I need to know whats has been overkill command deleted, it will be better if its save a copy of deleted objects and move to another location.

Good luck for you.. Guiño

I'm having trouble understanding why you need to know which duplicates were deleted.

Would you mind explaining?

To know what overkill did delete object correctly for example will it
delete the object underneath draw order or another layers ? Did it delete
partial overlap objects? I also need to know which blocks or attributes
been deletes as it will affect my assumption and quantity. This is just
part of my concern.

Unless you set it to ignore layers, then it won't delete similar objects on different layers.

It won't delete attributes that are in blocks. If you have attributes that are not in a block, you've got bigger problems.

Quantity take offs should probably be done after overkill.

Overkill is used to help fix improper drafting. If what it deletes is important to you, you need a more robust tool and should probably take a look at how these drawings are being generated. Focus on preventing the duplicates from happening in the first place.

When there is delete involve in my drawings I prefer to know what have been
deleted.
I also often calculate total polyline area and some how it got duplicate
object. Overkill sometime will find my duplicate and I need to know where
and what it delete so that I'm aware which polyline got overlaps and I did
calculated double.
I manage to use oops in my few version back and it did help me .

I understand but unfortunately I can't get oops to work like that.

Let me try to explain this another way. Maybe your efforts should be focused on avoiding creating duplicate, rather than trying to have an automated process to fix sub-par drafting.

How about I put it this way . Is there a way to find duplicate and overlaps
object in my drawings ? For checking integrity of drawings purpose?
When auto delete involve in my drawings I need to know.

If you are generating these drawings then you should be aware of your drawing environment.

If you want an indicator for duplicate objects, turn selection cycling is on. A curser badge is displayed when the curser is at overlapping objects.

Yes that's work fine if there is few objects . I got hundreds to thousands
object I need to check.
We r human u never know when mistake came in. Either someone paste in place
accidently a few times or copy to layers command that in same layers etc
etc.
Need a tools to find duplicates and overlaps to check others people
drawings too.

I'm sorry, but there is no amount of automation that is going to fix the human element. What you really need is better drafters who don't make those amateur mistakes. If duplicate objects is that much of an issue, I'd be willing to bet that there is much more that needs fixing.

Even before a world champion he learning from mistake and training to
become one.
I would like to give chance for intern and beginner to learn.
Even both experience user when combining two drawings overlaps may occur.
What I ask is just to find duplicates and partial overlaps. That's why in
few version back I use overkill as a workaround to find them.
Thanks anyway
How about a new command for autocad call overselect ?it select overlaps and
we decide whether to delete or move ?

Hi @Anonymous,

As workaround you can coy things you want to overkill to a new drawing and perform it there first and compair results, or bring it back to the original file on a new layer and perform your comparison..

By the way As @imadHabash said about Oops, doesnt work after using block or wblock commands or after undo, it also can't restore objects on purged layers..

Hi @Anonymous,

As I said Eddy, you can bring back the over killed objects to the original file in a new layer over the originals and compare all you want.. It's just like bringing back the deleted objects by oops, your bringing the new objects from the new file..

Good luck :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:

overkilled object and original object compare will also take times.
you won't see the different by eye with this 2 files.
