Osnap issue/error

I have an unusual (as usual) issue when drawing lines in AutoCAD… What is happening is say I want to draw a line 5” long but there is a line 6” away and perpendicular to my new line; the new line will snap to the perpendicular intersection (even when Osnaps are off). It has only recently started doing this, my work around has been to draw the line elsewhere (away from any possible intersections with other objects) and then move it to the correct location. While this isn’t a huge issue, it is hugely frustrating and slightly time consuming… Have you seen this issue before? I am sure it is just a simple preference or snap setting but I haven’t been able to sort it out. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Something is wrong here. If Osnaps are off, AutoCAD does not snap. Post a screencast so that we can see what you are doing and look for hints as to what is really happening.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
