opening ArchiCAD dwg in AutoCAD?

Hi, I am a CAD novice. The architect I am working with uses ArchiCAD and I use AutoCAD (2008 version), I have downloaded the Autodesk DWG Trueview 2017 so I can view the dwgs but not manipulate them or import them into AutoCAD, is this possible?

Thanks

ARCHICAD user needs to send you dwg or dxf file to open in R2008 or DTV2017: try it, no need to ask permission first.

Thanks for your reply. They did email me the dwgs and I couldn't open them in AutoCAD, that's why I downloaded the  Autodesk DWG Trueview, but I can only view them and not manipulate them. Sorry, my skills are basic, is there a way in which I can open them in AutoCAD?

Hi,

>> that's why I downloaded the  Autodesk DWG Trueview, but I can only view them and not manipulate them

Then use Autodesk DWG TrueView to open the drawing, and now save it back to DWG2007 format (using command _SAVEAS and selecting the filetype).

This file can then be opened with AutoCAD 2008.

Hi,

You are correct, it's called convert in DWG-TrueView as described >>>here<<<.
