When using remote desktop the open file tabs will shrink and disappear when windows is resizing for the home monitor after ending remote desktop.

Its not resizing I suspect, you are only seeing the bottoms of the panels in the Ribbon: you have a screen resolution conflict.

Nothing in AutoCAD is designed to fix that, look into better matching up screen resolutions between the two displays, see if that helps. If you need more guidance ask the developer of your RD software vendor or your IT folks too.

Yes, the monitor when accessing remotely is a different resolution but everything resizes when remote access is finished. All of Autocad resizes except for the tabs is why I brought this up. It should handle the resize fine like any other element but does not.

AutoCAD has no setting for your RD service not matching up your screen resolutions, sorry. Engage an IT expert to help you out with the display issue.

And explore the many posts about it here too https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+remote+desktop+screen+resolutions+do+not+match

It is not "RD service not matching up your screen resolutions" it is not even in the remote desktop application. This is in the windows environment on the host computer at the native resolution of the monitor. Autocad DOES handle automatic resizing from windows and this can be seen by changing the scaling in windows and watching the text and boxes change on the screen. Autocad has a bug during this resizing that cuts off 90% of the file tabs area.

If you believe it's an AutoCAD bug then you can start a support case with Autodesk at your Accounts Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/home/
Find and click on the ? icon to get he process rolling.
