Why would my open command start doing this. makes it very hard to find a drawing.  did i make this happen somehow?

Thank so much in advanced.   I have no idea how i accomplished this, It just started like magic.  I would like to have a window like always had when i type open or utilize the open command.

in addition to the other's answers you can also at this point hit the ~ key & then Enter key on the keyboard to bring up the window.

The fix has already been reported here, but to answer your question on how it happened, it is most likely a bug in AutoCAD.  It could be an issue with a custom LISP, if you use those, but our LISPs do not have any trouble and this glitch still pops up from time to time.

I would suggest entering SYSVARMONITOR at the command line and setting a watch for FILEDIA to see when it gets changed.  It should alert you if it's changed and then you can maybe get an idea of what caused it.
