Is this a student license or is it a commercial license?

If commercial, are you on subscription?

Hi,

>> Yes, 100% legally.

Only if the customer is on subscription, then yes, otherwise for full version(s) without subscription no.

Hi,

@JDMather

>> ...or student license.

I'm not sure and I don't have access to the license agreements for students, but from dark remembering about a thread here (not found now) I thought students can install/use their license only on one system.

Alfred,

Look at the license agreement, see Exhibit B License Types.  It is very clear that a second copy can be installed as long as it is not accessed at the same time, used by the same person, to perform work away from the usual work location, etc.

So I think the '100% legal' statement is correct regardless of subscription or not.

Hi,

@GrantsPirate

>> Look at the license agreement [...]

Thx for your reponse too!

Looking to >>>that link<<< shows me a bit different input, but that might also depend on the date of the license agreement.

At least correct is:"read the current license agreement" ... that's the only truth info :cara_guiñando_un_ojo:

actually if you read the license agreement it says this

4. Educational Stand-alone (Individual) License. If the License Identification identifies the License Type as an “Educational Stand-alone (Individual) License,” an Educational Licensee may Install a copy of the specific release of the Licensed Materials designated in the applicable License Identification on one (1) Computer, subject to certain functional limitations described in Section 6.3 (Affected Data), on a Stand-alone Basis, and permit Access to such copy of the Licensed Materials solely by an Educational Licensee solely for Educational Purposes. An Educational Stand-alone (Individual) License is for a fixed term specified in the applicable License Identification or, if no such term is specified, the term is thirty-six (36) months from Installation or as otherwise authorized in writing by Autodesk.

it clearly states on the student community website you can install on 2 machines according to the screenshot JDmather provided

this also says one computer: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/installation-activation-licensing/get-ready/find-ser...

so don't know what to believe

I would believe the actual LSA legal document over what somebody put on a website.

Therefore, according to the LSA, commercial seats (regardless of Subscription) get 2x non-concurrent installs and educational licenses get 1.

That's my final answer.  Emoticono muy feliz

New EDU licenses would be Desktop/rental-model rather than perpetual.  This may have different terms given the license is not locked to a particular computer but by user log-in to the AutoDesk license servers.

The EDU licensing terms could definitely use some clean-up and clarification in light of the Desktop/rental-model changes.
