Object Not Centering in Viewport

Every once in a while since autocad 2004, when setting up viewports objects in model do not center in viewport when using zoom object. Drawings all start off with same template. Does anybody know why this happens?

I've tested both in 2020 & 2023 but they're not off by as much as yours

Actually even within the same dwg and in different layouts it'll measure slightly off using Zoom Object

Even if I can't see here what you're reclaiming about, may I ask you what you need it for?

(BTW: Here are only very small differences, see image)

"reclaiming"?

Maybe, just maybe, they plot their viewports as a boundary of the view. It's not that uncommon of a practice outside of your office. Even if not, I'd still be concerned.

It appears to be a bug as the behavior is not expected and repeatable. (That is coming from someone who doesn't yell bug when something unexpected happens.)

Why I am asking is because I will zoom extend the rectangle that is in model space to the viewport. Then set the scale 1:1, 1/2"=1'-0", etc and part of the rectangle will be missing when i do this. Which will cause stuff inside the rectangle to be missing.

The rectangle in model is the same size or slightly smaller.

an alternative could be to select Zoom, Center, snap to geometric center of rectangle and then enter xp factor

The same size won't work. Technically, half of each line of the rectangle in model space will get cut off if it did line up correctly.

Share one DWG with one of your rectang and one Layout, saved after you used Zoom Object

here I'm sharing my dwg which is same in 2020 vs 2023. when using my method Zoom, Center, osnap to Geometric Center of rectangle it's centered perfectly in multiple Layouts unlike with the Zoom Object option which is hit & miss.
