Does anyone here use the NPS (National Park Standard) AutoCAD tools? I can't seem to get them to work. When I install them, it adds search paths that are truncated, can't find any of the toolbars, etc.

Thanks.

Hi @CADmgrMike,

I have not seen these tools but if there is a website you can provide, perhaps I can grab a set or at least review the operations guides in order to help.

Here's their CAD home page.

Hi @CADmgrMike,

I tried to get these to install but the tools are ancient.  They are not designed to install with anything newer than AutoCAD 2008.

You could open the NPStools.lsp and  play with the registry settings and folders but I would suggest just using Design Center to grab the necessary blocks and such manually.

I agree they are ancient. Unfortunately that's all they have.

I've asked the question in a couple other places. Hopefully someone can help. I know others are using these tools, just something not setup correctly for me.

I did finally get a contact at NPS that helped me get their tools up and running on Win 10, C3d 2019. It is possible, but not following their installation help file.

Can you share the procedure for getting the NPS toolbar to work? It is the only add-in I know of that will give me HSS and angle steel shapes.

@JeffatSN , I did this awhile back and don't use the NPS tools very often, but I added the NPS Tools folder to the CAD support file search path,

Then I loaded the CUI file as a partial

After that I followed the NPS installation document about using Appload and adding the NPSloader.lsp.

Everything seems to work after that.

@CADmgrMike ,

Thanks for this advice.  I followed your steps with loading the .cuix and adding the support path (even tried moving it to the top of the list) but it seems to only partially work.  The NPSCOMMANDS interface listing all the customizations comes up but when I follow the instructions to select one and RUN it, it fails.  Did you have any trouble like this?  I expected to see a ribbon with toolbars but none of that is showing up.  Typing any of the listed commands also fails.

I'm testing this on straight vanilla AutoCAD 2017, maybe it's just too far removed from the 2010 tools to be compatible.

Any ideas are welcomed!

Thanks.

@jasoncurtis6050 ,

I haven't messed with this in awhile, but I did get it working on another pc, and we use 2019.

I ended up leaving all the files at C:\NPS AutoCAD Tools

Add that path to your support file search paths and also to  Trusted Locations in the CAD profile

I also edited the Windows registry and made sure the path was correct. (see attached file)

That's all I can think of at the moment.
