Lately i have issues with my AutoCAD, first I could not save my files by just clicking on the map i want to save it. but I needed to copy the file location's name and than paste that in AutoCAD and than it might save their..

Than I couldn't make a group anymore in my drawings, and than I could not edit block in place anymore.

I really hope its my fault and that I pressed a button that I should not have pressed, but I'm not sure.

Anyway any help is really helpfull.

I use AutoCAD 2020.
( also have 2023 but same issues, so im lost)

Thanks in advanced

For the first case, it sounds like your filedia system variable is set to 0. Type _FILEDIA in your commandline and make sure the value is set to 1. That system variable determines whether AutoCAD shows you a dialog box whenever you open, save or do something else with a file. If it is set to 0 it means that you will get no dialog box and will need to type the URL of the file each time you wish to open or save or other....

The second case is a bit more complex. If it is happening in a single drawing, then it could be your drawing is corrupt. Use _AUDIT and/or share your drawing here to try and remedy the problem. If you have the issue across multiple drawings then it could be caused by something else. Make sure your AutoCAD is 100% up to date (check your available updates in the Autodesk Desktop APP), and if you are using an older version (pre-2020) maybe consider installing a newer version.

Greetings @jpj_venema

>>>...But i cant make a group in any drawing...<<<
PICKSTYLE variable controls if your GROUP holds together or not: look up usage of that variable in HELP.

It appears you somehow managed to edit each and every default variable setting in both your 2020 and 2023 installations somehow: a reset of the programs is always an option if you have no idea how they ended up all changed like that https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-r...

Type it at the commandline, hit <enter>, answer the prompts provided.
