Not able reduse file size

Hello friends,

I am facing a issue with dwg file. This file is exported from DGN to DWG, due to this file size has become very large. I tried doing few things but did not succeed. As I am using AutoCAD 2017 I cannot use DGNPURGE hotfix to solve the issue. I tried with WBLOCK but that too didn't work. I also tried DXFOUT and DXFIN but it didn't work.

I do not have the source DGN file for resolving the issue.

I am attaching the affected file...If anyone can help..

Regards,

Hello akhtar4223,

I used to save dwg's as earlier version of AutoCAD, and that usually worked out fine for me. What is interesting, right now I've opened Your file on my AutoCAD 2015, and just saved it, resulting in new file being 20,8 MB instead of Your initial 71MB.

Kind Regards,
Pawel

Hi and Welcome to AutoDesk Forum,

since you're using AutoCAD2017 there is no need for any outsourse plug-in to purge dgn.it's called orphaned data.

Regarding your heavy CAD file try to purge Regapps items which will cost you 50MB  ( 385 registered applications deleted. ) see below attached image

Command: -PU -PURGE
Enter type of unused objects to purge [Blocks/DEtailviewstyles/Dimstyles/Groups/LAyers/LTypes/MAterials/MUltileaderstyles/Plotstyles/SHapes/textSTyles/Mlinestyles/SEctionviewstyles/Tablestyles/Visualstyles/Regapps/Zero-length geometry/Empty text objects/Orphaned data/All]: r Enter name(s) to purge <*>: *
Verify each name to be purged? [Yes/No] <Y>: n

Now if do you want for more size reducing ;start search on Blocks that have a lot of details and lines that you could modify it or delete it then use AUDIT and PURGE (Regapp) till you reach for reasonable size.

Good Luck..

Hi @akhtar4223,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I too can get this file down to 21 MB easily using Purge, Audit, -Purge>All, -Purge>Regapps.

The 3D nightmare that you are facing will also likely reduce your file size when you get it cleaned up.  I started to do this but since I am not familiar with which parts are intended to be 3D it makes it very hard to do.

Please ignore my previous comment... I deed not check the settings in options window....It was AutoCAD 2000 format which I changed to 2013 version...File size reduced to 21MB.

But anyone can help me in cleaning the 3D part...is there any simple way for it
