No option to open a Civil 3D workspace? No c3d file?

I need to open a drawing in Civil 3D, but the only workspaces I have are Drafting, 3D Basics, and 3D Modeling. I tried to change my customization file from Acad to c3d but I do not have a c3d file. How do I fix this? Here is a picture of the files I have... no c3d option.

Hi,

did you start Civil 3D with the correct icon? Because if you started "Civil 3D as AutoCAD" then you won't have access to the Civil 3D functions as this is a different profile.

Can you please

• start command _ABOUT and show a screenshot
• start command _OPTIONS, change to tab "Profiles" and again show us a screenshot from that dialog.

Hi,

thank you for your screenshots.

The first one shows that you have installed AutoCAD 2019, but not Autodesk Civil 3D 2019, so you can't have a workspace from Civil 3D. You first need to download and install the correct product! 😉

PS: also this screenshot shows, that your AutoCAD is not updated (version P.46.0.0 should be P.162.0.0 AutoCAD 2019.1.2)

You installed and are running plain AutoCAD.

Civil3D is totally different and separate program from Autodesk: go back to your student/EDU portal, find and sign up for the correct software there. Then download and install it https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/autocad-civil-3d
