My rectangle grip settings changed

I have been using autocad for a few months now, and normally when I select a grip in a rectangle and move it, the rectangle changes in the way the Green rectangle changes.  But now, for some reason my rectangle is just moving the vertex and connecting the lines.  I would greatly appreciate anyone who can offer any insight into how to restore the old grip settings. My rectangles use to always stretch like thisMy rectangles use to always stretch like thisMy current stretch that I want to fixMy current stretch that I want to fix

Your red one does not have the constraints that the green one has.  Those are necessary for the operation you want.

I added the constraints to replicate what my old settings used to be like.  When I was using autocad a few days ago, it would function like the green one without needing to add grips.  That's what I want to restore.

Hi,

this is impossible. You used another software or just another tool (if you using a toolset instead of just a plain autocad installation!

Your screenshots are cutted, we can not see the whole program window.

Please confirm your productname, command ABOUT

In plain Autocad, command rectang create a closed polyline with 4 vertex. The grip acting is usual and you can't change it, also not in the past.

Is Mechanical Toolset installed by chance?

@aaronjames4123 You set up and used constriants correctly in the first imag (see those boxed icons around your shape?), you forgot to do so in the second one, so those are not really the same.

You've not provided such an image or DWG file, so for us over here will have to say you did not create them the same way at all. Sorry.

Show your work, share your DWG from the first image, and a DWG from this last reply where to state you "fixed it", it might be easier to help you out that way.

I've never known it to work that way for a corner in "vanilla" AutoCAD without constraints involved.  With Ortho on and an orthogonally-oriented rectangle, you could move an edge by its midpoint grip, and maintain rectangularity, and you could get your result by doing so to two edges, but not two adjacent edges together by a corner grip.
