Mvsetup turning off osnaps and changing settings

After using Mvsetup, my osnaps turn off and I need to select all my osnaps again and some settings get turned off. The settings that get affected are different every time. Once was the non verb selection setting toggled off and the properties for my profile view wont show up when I select it and right click on it. Another time my command line wouldn't show up by my cross hairs when entering a command.

This issue is happening in different versions of CAD, Im running 2023 CAD and my co worker is running 2019.

Any help solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

It happens, always has. You have to have a game plan to reset it. You can use a button to do so quickly, or a LISP... OR...
Set your running osnaps as you wish, then after that start OSMODE to see what numerical code is used, then add OSMODE to the watch list in SYSVARMONITOR to quickly reset it when it needs to be?

Look up OSMODE in HELP: you add the numbers next to each osnap you like to have on, the total is the setting for that variable.

The random settings being turned off has always been a thing too?

Certain commands, badly written LISP, add-ons that don't want them running for whatever reason, commands that might get affected by running osnaps, all sorts of things can turn them off. Hard to tell if your case if anything more is going on, you'll have to record all of your actions then review them at the end of the day.

It's best if you pre-plan to not get stumped/stopped by randomness in the program.

Side note: may I ask why you folks are still using MVSETUP command? very old school, hardly anyone I know in an office with experienced users goes there anymore, most of us create and use predefined/configured TEMPLATEs to start new files, and we always draft at 1:1 scale in modelspace.

I work with a few old school guys and that's the way they've always have done it so I started doing it as well. But we use it to rotate the view port to get the station of the alignment of the road reading left to right. The regrade plan that I'm currently working on the road runs in north, south, east and west, so it seems to be the fastest way to get the alignment running right on a sheet.

I will try making a few templates and see if I can get the old schoolers into this new format!
Thanks for your help!

@bradybVQ8SL Thanks for the background information: there are other ways to do the view/viewport rotations and alignments too. Start a new post to ask how to do that if you wish to explore more.

Are you using C3D variants by chance? Or just plain AutoCAD?
