Multiple copies of DST file are automatically created

AutoCAD randomly creates multiple copies of our Sheet Set DST file. All of our working files are stored on a 3rd party cloud including the DST file. We typically have 2-3 people in the drawings tied to the Sheet Set at a time. When making changes to the Sheet Set, the changes get automatically saved in one of the hundreds of copies. Essentially, the changes we make to the Sheet Set get lost. This makes all capabilities of Sheet Set unusable. Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated!

Looks like you might have file versioning or syncing duplicates at the host site: which secret service is that?Does everyone work from a their own synced folder? Is there a desktop app for that service?
You can also ask their support about turning that off.

Yes, it's Dropbox... we all work in a synched folder on our own computers. Looks like that could be the issue, right?

It is worth investigating, I see several topics on the matter over there, like this one from the HELP Center
https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/sync-uploads/duplicate-files
And this one of many more from their forums

SSMAUTOOPEN appears to be a system variable that may be the culprit.  Try changing setting to 0.
