multi-seat network license

Hi guys,

I'm trying to setup acad 2016 at our company. We purchased two networked licenses to be shared by about 10 stations. The 2016 license manager has been successfully setup on our single server. The problem I am having is to setup the client stations. Our reseller was "kind" enough not to provide any documentation/links whatsoever. Basically had to google search for instructions/documentation. The one big question I have is: how many license files should on our server be?

One for every seat we have or a single file that combines both seats?

I registered both serial numbers we got online and combined the licenses into one. But based on the web page below multiple seats for the same product should NOT be combined?!

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/network-license-administration/managing-network-lice...

Based on my experience with other software we should have gotten a single license for two seats to be placed in a shared network folder. And when installing acad 2016 on the client stations all I should have to do for licensing is point the client to the server and shared folder containing the license file.

I don't want to contact our reseller again. He admitted himself to not having a single clueEmoticono triste

Am I missing something??

Any advice is appreciated.

You are correct. You should have one license file with the two seats.

Combined license files with multiple Autodesk products work just fine.

For the client systems, they just need to point to the server, or system, where the license manager (LM) resides - the client system doesn't need to point to the license file itself, only the LM.

Make sure though that ports 2080, and 27000-27009 are opened in your firewall on the LM server.

Thank you AWood for the quick response!

During the install on the client station, I select network option and enter the server name. But I still have to enter a serial number and key to proceed with the install. Does it mean if I install acad on ten stations, I can randomely enter one of the two serial numbers we got?

Getting closer to the goal...Emoticono feliz

You should be able to use either one.

Your reseller should have got one serial number good for the 2 network seats instead of 2 seperate serial numbers for single network seats...

In any case the client system doesn't care, it's just going to look if there's a license available at the LM.

Also, you can check your license file information here:
