Multi-AnnoScale Block Attributes Move when Changing Scale

Hello -

I'm trying to create a best-of-both-worlds scenario with some annotative blocks, and I'm wondering if anyone has solved this issue.

In the attached file, there are two blocks. The block on the left is created such that there are grips for each attribute. The top grip moves the whole stack of attributes, and grips under that move individual attributes. When you switch annotative scales however, the text stays in place, which of course makes it look wrong in every other annoscale.

In the block on the right, the attributes are created such that the text is moved independently and stays in place when changing annoscales so it looks correct at different scales. The problem with this is there is no way to create a grip to move a stack of tags in this method, which is difficult when there is a large stack of attributes that need to move together.

Has anyone figured out a way to create grips that hold their position in different annoscales? If not, this seems like something Autodesk should add, as it is incredibly important for multiscale drawings.

Hi,

I open your CAD dwg sample , i suggest the follow :

  • your Blocks are NOT annotative But their components are Annotative !!!
  • your original TESTBLOCK block made as a two overlapped texts . !!!!!
  • where is your Annotation scale, I just find two of them !!! don't delete 1:1 scale . you can get them back by press RESET button from SCALELISTEDIT command .
  • While you can create an annotative attribute, you cannot include an annotative attribute in an annotative block.  When you create an annotative block, any visible attributes will automatically change size along with the rest of the block when you change the annotation scale.

I suggest to follow this AKN article that will guide you well . >> Click <<

You are correct, the blocks are not annotative but their attribute text is. This is intentional - the blocks must remain the proper size for the drawing, but the information about them must be viewed at different scales.

I do not understand you comment about overlapped text.

Yes I reduced the annotative scale options to only two that I am working with for ease of communication. In this case, I only need to information to be viewed in those two scales.

>>>... The block on the left is created such that there are grips for each attribute...<<<
That's your cause of the problem: the "anonymous" TESTBLOCK on the left has a fixed spacing between the attributes somehow that the TESTBLOCK2 on the right does not: moving the top attributes behave differently.

Why did you need to do that?

The block on the left "TESTBLOCK" has the attribute text "locked" such that they are moveable in model space using grips. This allows you to reposition all the text using one grip (the one at the top in this case) and then adjust the rest of the attribute text independently using subsequent grips.

The block on the right "TESTBLOCK2" has the attribute text "unlocked". This allows you to move the text pieces independently of eachother AND independently in different annoscales.

When there are several attributes, I want to set positions for the text together (using a grip like in TESTBLOCK) but have different positions for different annoscales.

AFAIK what you wish to achieve is not a feature in AutoCAD: if you want to suggest it you can do so here, and it might show up in 2-3-4-5-10 versions from now https://www.autodesk.com/company/contact-us/product-feedback

That's a good plan -

I guess I wanted to see if I was crazy or if this is a pervasive problem. Essentially I want move grips to be annotative like the text they're attached to!
