MTEXT randomly repeating characters

I have two users that are having a problem that appears to be present only when typing in an MTEXT window: characters are randomly repeated as if the keyboard key were momentarily stuck in the depressed position. The users report it has happened with more than one character and at seemingly random times. These users do quite a bit of typing in other applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Acrobat, Pipedrive, Teamwork Projects, others) and report this issue does not occur in any other applications. As a test, we replaced the users' keyboards for a time and the problem persisted. One of the users also reported the problem appeared to be cleared up after a recent AutoCAD product update but then reappeared after a subsequent update. Any ideas how we might fix this?

AutoCAD versions being used are...?
Which update cleared it and which update put it back?

Both users are using AutoCAD 2020. I cannot say which update may have fixed the problem or which update may have caused the problem to reappear. The user that made this comment to me was not able to provide that information.

So far no one in our office has reported such problems in AutoCAD/LT2020.

Is this a problem easily repeated on demand? If yes, have you observed it live and in person?

It is very hard to fix random, especially remotely.

Just a thought, but do the affected users have 3rd party add-ins in AutoCAD that un-affected users don't?

Yes, i have seen it in person, occurring with 1 of the two users reporting the issue. no, it is not easily repeated on demand, as it seems to occur randomly. We have not found a way to be able to replicate the issue on demand (i.e. by repeating a specific set of steps). It just randomly happens as the users are typing within MTEXT.

Thanks for your question. None of our users have 3rd party add-ins. We use straight AutoCAD 2020.

Agreed. I was hoping someone else may have experienced this issue, because I have not found a way to fix it. Fixing random is hard, period.
