Mtext and leader background mask transparency

Is there a way to make the mtext or leader background mask transparent, say 50%, so that I can still see what is behind the text but the text will stand out because the drawing is lighter beneath it? This is something that would be really helpful to me since I work with aerial underlays a lot.

No. You will need to float a solid HATCH with that effect behind that text to replicate your wishlist. GROUP them together too.

Maybe you could build the hatch into a block and use the block in a multileader style? But that might be troublesome to get the hatch to resize with the text. Maybe make an absolute size for the box around the text and it is static?

Sounds like that might be a good option. I'm not too familiar with building a block in a multi-leader style. Can you give me a step by step on how to accomplish what you mentioned?

so the wipeout or background mask will inherit the transparency of the layer or property override.
