Modifying Aligned dimension style keeps reverting back to style trying to change.

I am unable to modify an Aligned dimension style using the style manager. The problem is after modifying, or changing the current style, the changes revert back to the one just changed or modified.  Steps: Enter DIMSTYLE to open the Dimension Style Manager. Highlight the style I wish to modify and make the changes I want or select a different style as a new default. Click Set Current and close. At this point if I modified the style, all styles current in the drawing update to the new style format, and if I changed to a new default, it shows as the new default. The problem occurs now when I want to use the new style. As soon as I select the Aligned tool to make a measurement, everything changes back. The previous style returns. The styles in the drawing that just updated revert back to their previous state. The default style changes back. I can even delete the style, and yet it will magically return. I can even delete the style, save and close the file and yet when reopened, and upon selecting the tool, everything changes back. No matter what I do, as soon as I click on the tool the style, I'm trying to change returns unwanted. Background, this is a DWG file created by someone else and likely a different version of AutoCAD. I have AutoCad2020. The problem isn't isolated to this drawing only but persists in other drawings from the same source. I've tried coping and pasting the drawing to a new blank drawing, but the problem remains. Out of ideas

Sample DWG and images shared here would be a good thing to do next when you get a chance.
