mleader mtext default width

I haven't used AutoCAD for several years and I can't remember if there is a way to set an initial mtext width instead of it being a width of zero.

No, nothing built-in does that if you don't pre-create your own ready-to-use mleader object in a Toolpalette or symbols library. Give it a try, explore.
