Missing objects in a file

Missing objects in a file

Hello,

I am using AutoCad version 2014. Lately I had some issues with my laptop, mostly the battery at fault. Today I had one of the working files open when the battery charged out and the computer went off. Once I turned it on, it was missing a lot of information and not only the thing I have drawn.

The original file is a model of Rhino, then exported into AutoCad, I assume. There was another person working on it in Autocad, before giving me the file. It tried to use autorecovery and all the files (they appear to be correct on the preview) are missing the same portions of information. Even the original one is no longer like it was when i opened it the first time.

Has anyone encounter such a problem? Are there any solutions?

Thank you for the help,

Evaldas

Find the .bak or .ac$

if your .dwg is dead.

I have tried, but all the .bak files are also missing the same objects. Some of those objects are blocks and they dissapeared as whole, but a lot of other things were simply lines.

Here is your file: not sure if anything got lost or not, you'll have to figure it out, it's a lot smaller than what you posted.

I think the difference in size is the size of the objects that are missing. My file still has them inside, but they do not appear. I was hoping that there was a way to recover them back but they're most likely gone forever.

Hi @Anonymous,

If your backup files and the original files are missing the information then the data was missing and the drawing written over before the crash. I suggest that you need to obtain a fresh copy from the source and then try to merge your new work into the new copy.

I did take a look at your file that you attached and ran AUDIT on it and found 47421 errors. I was also able to PURGE 22 zero-length objects, and was also able to remove 19 regapps.  After running theses commands I did see additional data appear in the drawing.
