Missing acad.msi in MS Word???

Hi everyone,

Looking for some expert advice on a puzzling issue I'm having. I'm not sure if it's related to Autocad, but every time I open MS Word a window pops up looking for a file called 'acad.msi'. What gives? Why is MS Word looking for this file? And more importantly, how do I resolve it?

Experts, please advice.

Thanks in advance,

Eddie.

P.S.

I've attached/included a screen capture of the dialog window.

Something was installed incorrectly.  When you run Word its trying to run the AutoCAD secondary installer, which is looking for a specific file that it cannot find.  Typically this happens when certain registry entries have not been written, or written incorrectly, during the installation process.  Trying to track them down is like trying to track down krill in the ocean.

Best bet is to do a clean uninstall of AutoCAD (and possibly MS Office as well), and re-install with appropriate rights, anti-virus disabled, UAC disabled, and anything else which tries to protect users from themselves.  Before you try to do any kind of automated configuration of AutoCAD let it run once under the active user (with at least local admin rights) so the secondary installer can properly populate the section of the registry for the active user.

Thanks a lot dgorsman!

That did it. Seems to be working now - as expected. No more 'acad.msi' popping up.
