Mesh modeling with symmetry

Hi

Is there a way to model a mesh in symmetry in real time?  In Maya there is a command that allows symmetry modelling and thought AutoCAD would have the same feature.

Just to be clear what I am wanting to achieve; I create a box mesh, then select a face on any side and move it 50mm in the direction of its normal and would like the opposite face to also move 50mm in the direction of its normal.

I don't like doing things twice so I modelled only half of the mesh and mirrored it but now I cant union them together so now I have two issues

1.  Is there a way to model a mesh in symmetry?

2.  Is there a way to union two meshes together?

Hi,

>> Is there a way to model a mesh in symmetry? <<

as you ask... there is NO way.

>> Is there a way to union two meshes together? <<

Union command is not supported for mesh objects and you have to convert it to 3D solids.

Hi @ja1357,

There is Merge face - not quite the same thing as Union but can help in some situations.

I will try creating half the mesh model, convert it to a solid, mirror, union, then convert to mesh.  The merge face wouldn't be a suitable option in this case but thanks for your help.
