Lydar Surveys

Morning everyone,

We are starting to get lydar surveys from a client instead of the usual topo surveys. We are finding them pretty useless to work with.  We have managed to import them to civil 3d and get contour plans, tree height plans and sections but we cant appear to extract other information like buildings, fences, railtracks etc.  We need to bring the information into autocad to produce 2d drawings.

Is there a way of doing this and if so what program would be best to get the information we require?

I'm actually thinking it can't be done and it is just a pretty picture and we should stick with a traditional topo survey.

If you can prove me wrong I would be grateful. Then i can go to the bosses and say we need this program and this training.

Any luck.  Hope so.  I used to use Surfer 10 and Topsurv to process surveys.  That was several years ago.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately no answers so far which is leading me to think i am correct.  I haven't heard of the programs you used but i will have a look and see what i can find out.  I will leave this up for a while longer and see what happens.
