Looking to create equipment tables from block attributes and link with Excel

Hello,

I am looking to create equipment tables from blocks with attributes (or as we call them smart tags) to then create a table to show equipment type, material, size, etc. Each block has these attributes filled out so when someone clicks on say a valve, they can get all the information about that valve and model it or look up data on it. I am able to create a table using data extraction from these smart tags and an equipment table matches up with the information we are needing to show.

My main question is, how do I link up excel to this data and create a vice-versa connection to where when I update a smart tag it updates both the equipment table within AutoCAD and the linked excel sheet when needed. And on the other end of it to reduce time for commonality changes to multiple items, how can I link Excel to then update both the AutoCAD tables and the smart tags?

I have heard of this being done in the same industry I am currently in at a former company of a coworker and would like to get this implemented for my company. Any help at all is greatly appreciated, I have looked through the forums and Google and have yet to find anything as specific as my request being answered.
