Locking Viewport Layer States

I have several layer states that correspond with applicable layout viewports. I can select the applicable layer state for each of several viewports and those layer states remain as set only if I do not change the layer state while I am in regular model space (not viewport model space). If I select a layer state while in regular model space, all viewports change to that layer state. I want to change the layer state in regular model space without changing all viewport layer states. Please advise.

Hello! Is Normal if you haven't VP overrides in viewports, when you change  the layer states in the model it updates each viewport except layers with VP overrides.

Also if you check this box you can apply VP overrides in evey viewport you want, is an easy way to have different Layers overrides to apply in different View Ports in different Layouts

Thx, so if I do this 1x in model space it will apply to all vports in pspace tabs?

Cuz I have six pspace tabs with multiple vports in each. I only create them when mspace drawing is completed, but since changes to dwg do happen, when they do I have to go into every vport and thaw/freeze the correct layers.

Tried selecting vport in pspace and changing "Display locked" to "yes"...has not helped.
