Locking the Toolbar Location

Hi,

I'm interested in knowing if there's a way to fix a toolbar in place PERMANENTLY once I've found the right location for it.  Not sure if I mean "toolbar", I like to have the layer properties manager and the properties commands on the right side of my screen on auto-hide, so I can roll the cursor over them and they pop out, then move the cursor off them and they go back into hiding.  I have been able to accidentally achieve perfect status of having them both in the same line, one on top of the other.  I don't know how I managed it, but I'd like this setup permanently.  My problem is that every once in a while I don't know if I select or deselect something or maybe just nudge it with the mouse or whatever, but it undoes the layout, and I lose one of them.  How do I set this up, for one, and once it is setup, is there any way I can lock their location on auto-hide, so I don't accidentally mess it up?

Thanks,

MarkF

Hi,

Type in the command "LOCKUI" and set it to "15". I guess this what you are looking for:cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:

How do I set it up first, before locking it?

Hi,

You can set it up as per your preference. You can right-click on the palettes and it will give you options to auto-hide the palettes and dock them. Read more from here "click here"

I like to have my properties palette docked to the left without autohide and layer manager and tool palette docked to the right and auto-hidden and this is my preference and you can set it as per yours. Once set you can lock the UI using "LOCKUI" so that you won't be able to move the palettes or resize them or close them(but you can close the properties palette and Tool palette still by using ctrl+1 and ctrl+3 with locked UI)

What you are describing is called the Workspace: the arrangement of interface elements on the screen. In addition to the previous suggestion (LockUI), I would add that it is good practice to name your workspace (WSSave) and re-save it whenever you make a change. The Workspace is saved as part of the CUI file that is loaded as "main" in your AutoCAD profile. Most workspace changes are best made through the drawing editor interface, but some can be done more easily in the CUI editor.

It is also good practice to make an export of your Profile, as a backup, particularly if you customize anything that can be modified with the Options command. Be sure to include the exported profile (ARG file) and your customized CUIx file in any periodic system backup so that you can use them to recover relatively quickly from a computer problem that would require a re-install of AutoCAD.
