Hi, it just happen to me when I am doing editing on the drawing for the whole day and without any popup notice saying that I am currently using the drawing, other user was open the drawing and saved it. These cause then all my work is not saved.

I now that if the drawing is opened by someone and the other user who want open the drawing will get notice popup shows that it is read only and was opened by someone.

How to make the popup appear?

According to this post, opening a dwg by double clicking the filename does NOT create a file lock, but if you open the file from within AutoCAD, it will create a file lock.

@asyrafQ3ZXS "...Synology Drive as a server...." is the culprit here, file-in-use "locking" is an OS level control, you can't do anything about it from inside AutoCAD at all. Sorry.

How long have you all used this for? Was it thoroughly tested? You all might have these same issues in other file types too.

I just figured last week and only happen on autocad for now. What I had research, it is cloud based storage so its like when open the drawing, it will download the file and we will working on the local file. Once we closed the drawing, it will upload the latest whoever saved the drawing. I think it will happen to others office or any other files.
I am thinking is there any workaround like when we open the drawing, it will lock the file from the file properties itself, so then if someone try to open the file/drawing, it will notice that the file is read-only.
ah this might be troublemsome for the future.

Ask their support, start here, AutoCAD does not do anything like that
