Linetype Not Displaying Properly

Good afternoon,

I've been using AutoCAD & AutoCAD LT in my office and just recently one linetype has stopped displaying correctly in AutoCAD whilst still displaying correctly in LT.

The line type is Amzigzig.  In full AutoCAD is just shows as a dotted line whilst in LT is shows as the zigzag section break line.  I've played with line scale, tried resetting AutoCADs settings to default but can't seem to get it to reset.  Even opening an old drawing that has the linetype in it it still shows as a dotted line.

Is there a way to export the line from LT and import to full AutoCAD?

Any ideas of where/how to reset the line type directory?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Alex

Hi,

I guess this linetype uses a SHP for the zigzag ... and that shape/the SHX-file with that shape

  • is found by AutoCAD LT
  • is not found by AutoCAD

so make sure AutoCAD can find this SHX-file ... either copy that file to one of the AutoCAD support paths or add in the AutoCAD support paths the path where the SHX-file is stored.

What happened "just recently" that may have caused this to happen?

This seemed relevant...

Whilst I want to say nothing changed recently that clearly can't be the case.

Knowingly I've made no changes which is what has made backtracking difficult.

Thank you for the link, I gave those solutions a go but had no luck

Thanks for your reply.

I tried copying the .lin & .shx files from the respective C drive & the User AppData AutoCAD folders LT --> Full but unfortunately that didn't solve my issue.

I've since installed 2020 AutoCAD and the AmZigZag line works as expected again.

I'm at a loss as to what the problem was!

Hi,

To which folder exactly?

And when you start command _OPTIONS ==> Files ==> do you see that folder in the list of the support paths?

And have you restarted AutoCAD then?

>>To which folder exactly?

I've taken the .lin & .shx file from : C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2018\R24\enu\Support

& from C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2018\UserDataCache\en-us\Support

And copied them into the same directory for the 2020 (which for some reason developed the same problem today).

>>And when you start command _OPTIONS ==> Files ==> do you see that folder in the list of the support paths?

>>And have you restarted AutoCAD then?

I also added those two support paths into the support lists as you suggested and after a RegenAll the line is back as I would expect - thanks Alfred!

Now to figure out what is causing it to stop displaying properly.

Thanks for the help!
