Curious why "plines" are showing an AREA listing,
Because AREA is a property of Polylines,
and if you have a pline with more than 2 vertex and not all are in one straight, you will have an area >0
share your PDF (and DWG, if possible), tell what PFD viewer you are using.
I guess some lines are ortho and some not.

Yes, the lines are different lengths, why would that affect the shades they print into PDF?
If I adjust the length the lines get longer or shorter. I want the length to stay as is.

Try another PDF-Viewer or search the setting in your current one

That's exactly my point: look at the screenshots, no second vertices.
The two in the image that disappear off the bottom might be ends of the same Polyline, connected down below. They must be, with Properties showing 5 Polylines selected. That would explain the areas not all being zero. But in any case, it seems irrelevant to the question of different plotted appearance, if they're all the same object type on the same Layer with the same properties other than length and area. It doesn't make sense to me that a different PDF viewer would show differently, either, but if it does....

The DWG is available now and it is the case.

Another Viewer OR another setting - also another Zoomlevel in a PDF Viewer can show the content differently.
Linesmooting or for text "clear Text" or similar settings can force i.
In this case here and with adobe software it is "thin lines thicker" .
"Thin" are lines what in horizontal or vertikel direction just one (or two?) pixel width
displaying (<- displaying! so if you zoom bigger, all lines are displaying well)

It's not a solution, just something every Adobe Acrobat Reader/Editor user needs to do to overcome Adobe's need to make their bloatware more nimble on user PCs. This is what I have the display settings at for all of our staff just in case they skip over the better PDF Editors they also have access to
