Line snap at 45 degrees

Basic question for a very long time acad user.

Per the attached screen shot I want the green line to snap to the yellow line at a 45 degree intersection.

If I am on osnap, 45 setting, no issue but when I hover the line, I cannot snap to it at a 45.

I am not snaping to a midpoint, endpoint just somewhere along that yellow line.

What I usually do is draw a pline and overshoot then redraw and erase the guideline. Another option is to extend.

I am wondering if there is some setting, I did not see in holding the shift-right click anything.

Just curious if there is a short cut as I can find nothing.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

If i understand your question... you can use (int of) while you are in command.so if you need to draw a line from green line extension to meet the yellow one;just type ( int ) for first point then select green line then go to the yellow one and you will see the (x) appear.(see attached image)

Command:  LINE
Specify first point: int of and

Hi @jbaflyer,

If you want to be able to start drawing from a point that lies on a 45 degree line from another point, you need tho do the following:

1- Make sure Object Snap is enabled (can be toggled by pressing f3)

2- Make sure Object Snap Tracking is enabled (can be toggled by pressing f11)

3- Make sure Object tracking is on (can be toggled by pressing f10)

4- in object tracking make sure you added 45 angle and enabled tracking with all tracking angles..

See the pictures:

Best of luck 🙂

Hi,

look to that, I guess the is what you are looking for

Polar tracking by 45° starting from the startpoint of the line (not the point you want to stretch).
