Hey guys,

at the moment i'm doing a grafic-project for university.

Normally i'm using Autocad for technical drawings and 3D Objects for 3D printing.
Because it's no technical thing now, the apperance is very important.
I know how to use the materials browser, but the lighting is a big problem. None of my lights brighten anything.
I think, that the only light i'm seeing is the default one.
What am i doing wrong? Is there any button to press, to render the scene?
I'm in realistic mode.
As you can see in the Screenshot, the light is turned on and spottet on the object...
Nothing changes, if i turn it on or of.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

>> None of my lights brighten anything.

In most cases, when command _RENDER shows a black window as result, the UNITS are not set correctly.

Look to command _UNITS and verify the dimensions of your object and the distance of your light to the objects.

>> I'm in realistic mode.

Visual styles in AutoCAD are dependent on the graphic card you have build in, you need to start _RENDER to verify the complete settings, if they are correct or not.

You might upload the dwg-file and let us know which version of AutoCAD you are using, so we can test your file on our workstations.

Hello Alfred,

thanks for your quick reply!
I attached the dwg to this post.
When i type in "render" nothing changes. I bet I'm missing anything important. Some switch or mode or something, which is the absolute standard for you pro users! :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:

Kind regards,

JO

Hi,

Default lighting is off, spotlight8 is off, so these do not influence your scene.

Spotlight9 is 230 Inch away from your object. In the properties of that light I changed

  • Intensity factor to 100
  • Falloff angle to 90

Then I changed to perspective mode and that's what I get (using AutoCAD 2020, don't know which version of AutoCAD you are using):
