From time to time with seemingly no pattern I get frustrated emails form clients about the PDF's I send not printing properly.  I can not find anything online as a solution.  I can print it fine so it's difficult to problem solve.  Can anyone help?  Here is what the plan looks like printed:

It is supposed to look like this screen shot:

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

>> [...] I can print it fine so it's difficult to problem solve

A bit more info is needed...

  • Which viewer do you use to print?
Which viewer does your client use to print?
  • Which device and driver was used by the client to print your PDF to?
  • Which software was used to create the PDF?
  • Which driver was used in the above software to create the PDF?

Here is a picture of the viewer that pops up when I print:

I don't know about the client though and would have to ask.

I created the PDF using AutoCAD.  It was just the AutoCAD to PDF smallest file.  I don't know if I've answered your question.  I have only been suing CAD for two years and I have a M.S. in Horticulture so I just know enough to get by computer wise :).

Hi,

>> Here is a picture of the viewer that pops up when I print

Sorry to not know which software is shown in the screenshot.

Is that a preview from a PDF-Viewer software (which one) or a preview from a printer driver?

>> I don't know about the client though and would have to ask.

As the client has the issues, I guess that is first to find out.

>> I created the PDF using AutoCAD

Which version of AutoCAD (command _ABOUT ==> screenshot would help)

You might also upload the PDF that has issues at your clients side, maybe we can find something inside this file or at least maybe someone can reproduce the issue with that file.

The PDF opens in explorer.  To print it I right click on the PDF and say "print".

I have AutoCAD 2018 Student Version

Hi,

>> The PDF opens in explorer.

Is that the client's or your situation?
What happens if you install a real PDF-viewer like Adobe Reader or PDF-XChange Viewer and start a print from that application now?

>> I have AutoCAD 2018 Student Version

I know 2018, but which update of 2018, that's why I'm asking for a screenshot of command _ABOUT as that shows more detailed information.

And please be careful, using the education version of AutoCAD means you are not allowed to do commercial work with that, so you should not have a client for the result of these drawings.

Just to be clear, I am a student and I do not have paid clients.  I don't want to get into a big explanation of all that.  I called them "clients" to simplify.  Thank you for your help.

Hi,

would you mind to answer the other questions/add information's I was asking for?
It's needed to get more close to the source of the issue! For now I have nothing, no infos and even not a PDF where I can try to reproduce the issue...
