Lagging/Ghost display when moving Toolbar in AutoCAD electrical classic mode

This is Lin, Xu from DELL Tech support team. Our customer bought 14 DELL precision 3620 and they are experiencing the Lagging/Ghost display when moving Toolbar in AutoCAD electrical classic mode. The issue only occurs when the AutoCAD is running windows10 with autumn creators update. Here are my testing steps.

  • Using Precision 3620 or other brands computer with Win10 autumn creators update(OS Version:1709), no matter the graphic card is integrated Intel 530 graphic card or Nvidia P2000, GT750, They are all having the issue.
  • I had enable/disable hardware acceleration in AutoCAD, but issue still here.
  • If the OS is Win7 or Win10 without autumn creators update(OS Version:1511), They are all working fine.
  • In my opinion, It should be compatible issue, Maybe it's causing by some drivers/settings/.net framework/C++, or something like this. But i have no idea, So i submit a case here to seek your professional support here.

Reproduce steps:

1, Setup a computer with Win10 autumn creators update(OS Version:1709) installed.

2, Install a AutoCAD 2015(Actually all AutoCAD 2012 to AutoCAD 2018 have the Lagging/Ghost display issue).

3, Running AutoCAD 2015 in AutoCAD electrical classic mode.(See attachment which named 0117_1)

4, Moving Toolbar, You will see the symptom.( See attachment which named 0117_2)

Hi,

Running AutoCAD 2015 in Windows 10 is not a supported environment(>>>click<<<)

>> AutoCAD 2018 have the Lagging/Ghost display issue

Try to disable hardware configuration, if the ghosting image does not appear then it's most probably an issue of DirectX11 compatibility.

On my system (not a Dell, using nVidia GTX970M with Windows 10 and AutoCAD different releases) I don't see that ghosting. But I would say if that only happens when toolbars are moved it's a minor issue, because they are moved once after setup, not in a daily interval.

More critical would be if the ghosting also happens when geometry objects are move, then yes, then it's a real issue as that does not let you exactly position an object and that is done and needed many times.

Just my 2c, - alfred -

Thanks for your sharing, The issue only occurs when moving Toolbar, It doesn't affect to other project.

But my customer wants to get it fixed, So not sure if you are using the below configurations.

-Windows 10 with latest hotfixed installed(OS version:1709)

-AutoCAD is working on electrical classic mode, Because only this mode will trigger the Lagging/Ghost display

Hi,

>> Windows 10 with latest hotfixed installed(OS version:1709)

I already wrote that AutoCAD 2015 is not supported on Windows 10 ... now I read 1709, which makes the hole thing worse (>>>click<<<).

Because my customer has same issue even if system is using AutoCAD2018+Win10(1709). So not sure if you can have a look in your site. Thanks...

Hi,

>> So not sure if you can have a look in your site

These are not "my sites", I'm just an AutoCAD user, nothing more (and tried to give you some input, so e.g. that 1709 is critical based on the information from Autodesk).

Your customer version of AutoCAD2015 is not supported in Win10 as explained here http://autode.sk/1IY4C2X
What that means is the following: if it used to work and now does not, or if you are trying to install it but you cannot get it to install, or any other related issue that involves your older AutoCAD version and Windows10, Autodesk will in no way shape or form ever get involved in finding out why and will never plan on issuing any fixes.

This was recently posted, it may shed some light on your issue https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Autodesk-products-not-wo... and here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Autodesk-software-does-n...

This other tip was posted by a user in these forums and it may help too https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/autocad-2013-crashed-after-lastest-windows-update/m-p/7...

For most users rolling back to an older Windows OS that is supported (Win7 in this case) and hang on tight to it for life.

For others they can purchase a fix from these folks http://www.longbowsoftware.com

As far as Autodesk is concerned, you will need to subscribe to a newer version of AutoCAD.

Hope these help.

Yes, we solved our ribbon crashing issues with Longbow's Converter app. We uninstalled our current failing installation, then reinstalled by following their steps/instructions here - Interactions with the AutoCAD Ribbon crashes AutoCAD on Windows 10 (Solved) - worked first time

have not run into the ghosting issue, I will email Longbow and ask
