Lag time when starting plot command

Hello,

We just upgraded to ACAD 2021 and converted network license to single user license.

When I'm in AutoCAD and I start the plot command for the first time (in that session) it takes 25 seconds before the plot dialogue box appears, however, after the first time, there is no hesitation. but when you restart AutoCAD you will have to wait the first time again.

1) all of our plot files reside on the server (.pc3, .ctb, pmp)

2) the  printer support file paths have not changed (pointing to the folders on the server)

3) I have pruned down any redundant and old Plot styles and PMP files.

    a) note - we had a similar issue years ago and discovered there were too many of those files and ACAD was reading all of them prior to opening the plot dialogue box.

 4) with all that said, only after the software and license upgrade has this issue started.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I know this whenever any of the paths inside AutoCAD do not exist or have limited permissions.

In most cases I know this happened when settings are migrated from previous AutoCAD versions.

Try to reset AutoCAD to default, then try plot again, if that works well then change the plotter config path to your server path ... if it now is slower then any of these PC3-files are not valid any more (missing driver).

Thank you,

After reviewing what I had in our printer file support search paths, there were some items that were looking for AutoCAD 2019 information, and 2019 was uninstalled and support folders were deleted therefore it could not find it.

We are also having trouble with an old plotter and the .pc3's to that plotter were erroring out.

After removing that crap, the AutoCAD world is spinning again.

Thanks for the help.

Michael
