Keyboard commands stopped working.

Hello,

In working on a DWG today, my keyboard shortcuts stopped working.

Usually I would select an object or objects and hit a command (ie. M for Move), I'm prompted to "select base point" and then move the object to location.

Now however, I will select an object, hit a command (M), and then I am prompted to "select object" again. I select the object again, hit enter and then I'm finally prompted to "select base point".

I'm wondering if maybe I inadvertently typed in a command which has turned off the functionality or keyboard shortcuts? I also notice that when I selected text to edit I am unable to double click or even right click to edit the text.

I am running AutoCAD 2016 for MAC - on a student trial.

Forgive me for my lack of understanding in this issue.

Thanks.

Sumiko

I don't know about the MAC version, but assuming this is not different, it sounds like the setting of your PICKFIRST System Variable has been changed.  Read about it in Help.

It says: Enter New Value For PICKFIRST <0>

Should it be set to 1?

Yes.  [Help would tell you that.]

At the commandline, type PICKFIRST, then hit <enter>. then type 1 (that'[s a one), hit <enter>

Are you able to ask your teacher some of these basic questions?

You can also find the "PICKFIRST" system variable in OPTIONS dialog box.

Under the SELECTION tab. Noun/Verb selection check box. Checked is 1 (one) = on.  Unchecked is 0 (zero) = off.

cheers!

BUT IF YOUR KEYBOARD WONT TYPE THE LETTERS IN AUTOCAD HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE SETTING PICKFIRST TO 1?

Right click, Options, it's in there.
