Issues with creating PDF's using PDF Maker in AutoCad

I have a mysterious issue with some of the drawings when creating a PDF from a Layout using PDF Maker in Autocad 2014 or 2018.

Attached are a sample of a couple of the files to see if you get the same issue?

Also, do get inconsistencies as well with the results.

Hi,

Can you please be more specific about what is the issue with plotting the PDF?

As I couldn't see any difference between the layout and the print preview of the same.

Do you mean the missing content that is drawn on layer 0 in the block X_PANEL_RELOC?

No problem here when I change your plot style table to MONOCHROME.CTB, so your issue is likely there unless you like the other fella here turned off layer 0 for some reason. See attached.

Or did you mean something else with your bad choice of words like "mysterious issue"?

TIA

Hi,

Thanks for the responses.

I'm using PDF Maker an AutoCAD Add-on that is available with Adobe Acrobat DC.

At the command line you type PDFSettings to change the settings than Type PDF to create.

Once it is generated and you open it in PDF reader it recognizes the SHX text fonts.

Your Test.pdf does not have searchable text within because they are not TTF.

I have noticed that if I open the drawing and PDF it straight away images are missing in the view ports in paperspace.

Hi,

I had the same problem as you. I found out if you set the Setvar Layoutregenctl on 0 the problem is solved.

Another problem I had is with Elipse that is partially shown, it shows to much of the elipse. For now I replaced it with a polyline. If I have another solution I will post. Or if someone else has a solution, I am open for it.

Regards,

Martin

I'm with Mr. Pendean... Monochrome works great and my PDF looks like his with nothing missing.

Maybe it is your computer running out of memory. I have had this happen before.

Try shutting down (not restart), turn back on, open only AutoCAD...

Open only the drawing having issues and Plot to PDF.

If it does print out like it should, time for more memory or computer.

Hope this helps.

JRR.

Hi Robert,

I tried now the PDFMaker with your file. It works for me. When I set Layoutregenctl on 1, I get same result as you . When I set Layoutregenctl on 0, the pdf turns out ok. (Apart from colours because I don't have your ctb file). See the attached pdf files.

I must say I use for AutoCAD version 2019 and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. Maybe that is the the difference.

We also need searchable shx-font in our pdf-files.

Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Can you please try it with Version 2018 if possible?

Can you also please let me know what version of PDFMaker you are using with 2019?

Regards,

Robert

Hi Robert,

I don't have AutoCAD 2018 available, sorry about that.

The PDFmaker comes with Adobe Acrobat DC version 2021.007.20099.

Martin

Hi Martin,

Can you please try the attached files and see if you get any issues?

I am unable to run PDFMAKER at the command line to see the version and settings.

I am having trouble reinstalling PDFMAKER to AutoCAD.

Hi Robert,

I see indeed issues with these drawings. The *1.pdf files are missing viewport information.

I notice that the viewports are clipped on a polyline with exact the same size. I don't see the purpose of clipping here, but this seems to be an issue at the 001-91223-01 - Copy.dwg. When I remove the clip the viewport prints well (see 001-91223-01 - Copy-2.pdf).

With the other drawing (001-91225-01 - Copy.dwg) the content of some vports are not shown . Here it seems to be an issue that the layer VPORTS is frozen. When I thaw that layer and place it on not-plot the viewports are show .

We always put our VPORTS layer on non-plot CampoVerde01_0-1637332312662.png

and not Frozen and we have never any issues.

Hope this helps.

By the way, I installed the Adobe Acrobat DC with the PDFmaker. After installation of Autocad.

Regards.

Martin

Hi Martin,

Sorry for taking so long to get back but I have managed to get AutoCAD 2019 installed by IT this week.

The Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version currently installed is 2022.001.20142.

Can you clarify how to determine the clipped viewport and how to fix it.

As for the other drawing I set the VPORTS layer as follows.

Display ON, Thawed, Unlocked, No Plot and typed PDF to create. The Viewport and the images inside it are shown in the PDF using PDFMaker.

Display OFF, Thawed, Unlocked, No Plot and typed PDF to create. The Viewport is not shown and the images inside it are shown in the PDF using PDFMaker.

I will try other drawings and let you know as the result has not been consistent.

Regards,

Robert
