Issue with Properties

Hi everyone!

I am a student who is just learning CAD. I am having an issue with my properties tab. I need to edit the current words we have in an assignment. When I am in properties, I can scroll up and down without an issue. When I highlight a word to edit and then go into properties, I am then unable to scroll or do anything within properties. I should add that properties was working normally and I was able to edit one word but then when I went to edit another word, it stopped working. Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated! I have two assignments due tomorrow!

Maybe you have more than one item selected at the same time. Hit ESC key to deselect items before selecting the next if you are not already or maybe the PICKADD variable got changed from what you had.

I suspect that's not the issue.  If you have more than one item selected, you can still do things in Properties [put them all on a Layer, give them a color override, etc.].  But if by "highlight a word to edit" is meant not just selecting it, but double-clicking on it to get into text-editing mode, then no, you can't navigate in Properties while the text editor is active.

The issue has been fixed. I only need to click once on what I want to edit, and not twice, and that allowed me to work in properties. Maybe because it's the 2021 version?

Thank you both for your responses!

That's no different from earlier versions, in my experience.  Your use of the wording "to edit" is a little ambiguous -- it sounds like you're talking about changing Properties other than the text content [which is what I think of as "editing" Text], unless you do content editing by way of the text "slot" in Properties.  Editing the content out in the drawing area is what you get if you double-click on it.

As I stated earlier, I'm a student who is just learning CAD. I've been in
it for all of two weeks and am still learning. I needed to justify text to
center via the properties tab and add 10 feet so that it would be center
under one of my houses. Prior, the text was left or right justified
depending on which house it was under.

I thank you for your help and responses. I'll catch on eventually 🙂
