Have you activated the iso grid?
Or, SNAP command, Style option.

HI and thanks for the responce. I already have it set for isometric snap, I just can't get it to rotate to the position I want. F5 key doen't do anything.

Ah, the isometric surface you want to draw on.... That's the SNAPISOPAIR System Variable. With three values [0, 1, 2], here's one way to cycle around them:
(setvar 'snapisopair (rem (1+ (getvar 'snapisopair)) 3))
