Invisible Point Cloud Palette

Hi All,

I inserted a point cloud into my AutoCAD drawing and turned on the Point Cloud palette, docked it to the left and turned on auto hide and all was well in the world. Then I picked the icon to turn OFF the auto hide and the entire palette disappeared and I can't get it to show up any more. Unfortunately, the last thing I did in the PC palette was to turn off the PC visibility so now all I can see is the bounding box of the PC.

I opened the CUI hoping to see if I could find something there but I can't find anything that looks like "Point Cloud" anything.

How can I see the PC palette again?

Please help.

Hi Imad,

I tried the different workspace approach and that did not work. Resetting to AutoCAD default settings???? Wow, that sounds drastic. Is there a single button some where to accomplish this?

Hi Imad,

Well... that shows me the PC manager but I lost ALL my customization, not to mention ALL my preferences and ALL I've done and I'm back to OOTB. I know that is what I should expect with "Reset all AutoCAD default settings" but since I had the PC manager and then it disappeared, I think there should be a much less dramatic fix.

Thanks for your input. I'll use the OOTB settings just to get this job out but will go back to working W/O the PC manager afterward.

Uhm, yeah - "Reset AutoCAD" is a half-step before doing a repair-install.  Almost useless if you're using third-party tools or in-house customization.

Is this a third-party plug-in, from Leica or other scanning vendor?  Those don't show up in the CUI editor (only OOTB AutoCAD palettes do).  However, there should be an XML file with the Palettes name that contains screen coordinates, typically somewhere in the install folder.  It's been a while since I've had to do that, so I don't remember exactly where.  It's a simple matter of opening the XML file in a text editor and changing the coordinate values to something rational; even if you aren't familiar with editing XML there isn't much content in the file and everything is well labeled.
