Please assist with opening .dxf with AutoCAD:

"Improper table entry name _0-1_º˜AƑTƑƑ“ƑG on line 1140.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.
Press ENTER to continue:"

I have received six drawings from a customer from Japan but am not able to open and get the above message. I have viewed various strings but could not find a solution.

I attaching the first three of them please can you see if you can open it and then save them in dwg format.

Hi,

nothing visible, no file attachment inside the initial post, nor in the last message.

Please open the ticket through your Internet Browser and use the attachment section inside the reply form.

Using attachments via mail replies does not work.

Okay here are the first three again. I have used the browser attach button to load them. I hope they come through to you now.

Hi,

received them 😉

Can you tell us which software created these files?

Reason is that the layernames used inside that file are created with a characterset which seems not to be supported (at least not within a DXF file based on ASCII).

I would ask the creator of these files to rename the layers, or you may open the DXF-files in e.g. Notepad++, find the layer section, and then use find/replace to give these layers new names and make sure that the entities also get the layernames replaced.

That is great. These are one of the properties BMW is renting in Japan and many of the text inside the drawing was done in the old Japanese type text. I have to use google translator to try and decipher them.

We do not know what software was used to create them. We requested the building owners a copy of their building cad files and this is what the have sent us. This was great help thank you.
